Those things you did when you thought I wasn't looking... from those I
learned the most!
When you thought I wasn't looking, I noticed you hanging my first
painting on the fridge... and I immediately ran to paint another one.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you offering a cup of cold
water to the poor man at the door... and I learned from you to care.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you preparing my favorite
cake... and I learned from you that little things can be so meaningful
and so heartwarming.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you bentching with Kavanah...
and I learned that I, too, can always turn to Hashem and thank Him.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you volunteering your time to
help others, despite your busy schedule... and I learned from you to
have true Ahavas Yisroel.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you washing, ironing, and
folding my clothes... and I learned from you to do for others without
asking in return.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you standing up to your
responsibilities even when you weren't feeling well... and I learned
from you how to approach commitments, now and when I'm older.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw the tears in your eyes as you
watched the videos of Farbrengen and Kos Shel Bracha... and I learned
from you to long for the Rebbe whom I never got to meet.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you learning about Geulah and
Moshiach... and I learned from you to hope, to believe, and to have
Bitachon.
I want to thank you, Mother, for all the things you did - not for me -
and perhaps even when you though I wasn't looking... from these things
I learned the most!
From Me, Your Loving Child
and from the little eyes that see so much
